SEEKING ARTISTS FOR FALL WORKSHOP TOUR 2023

For more than 40 years, the Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange Society has been pivotal within the Saskatchewan Arts scene for providing meaningful artist engagement for remote and under-served communities.

That tradition continues.

SCES is currently seeking artists to go on the road for the much anticipated Artist Workshop Tour in the Fall of 2023.

SCES is seeking a visual artist, dancer, storyteller, theatre artist and a musician. Each will travel together as a cohesive Artist Troupe visiting several schools in, mostly rural and northern Saskatchewan, for a six-week period between mid-September to the end of October.

Artists need a current criminal records check and to be available for travel and overnight stays, also, experience in working with students in a classroom setting is essential.

Interested? Find out more by emailing for details – carol@culturalexchange.ca by April 30th.

Preference will be given to artists who reside in Saskatchewan.

About the Workshop Tour

Every fall, students get to learn directly from professional artists and experience artistic creation first hand with the Workshop Tour.

The tour assembles a group of working artists, sending them out for full days of giving workshops in their fields. With the Workshop Tour, the Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange strives to nurture independent thinking, the imagination, respect for one another, and enthusiasm for life through balanced programs integrating multiple forms of artistic activity.

What do schools get? One day, five artists, and 20 workshops.

Workshops are specifically tailored for any age group from elementary to high school. The program has long been referenced by artists who have chosen their profession in part due to early interaction with the Workshop Tour. It continues with the goal of encouraging the next generation of independent and creative thinkers.

The Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange is excited to share the Workshop Tour with as many Saskatchewan communities as possible each fall. Find out more on our website.

We here at the Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange are always updating our website with the latest opportunities, whether it’s new programs for people across the province to participate in, chances for communities to bring art to their area, or openings for artists to bring their work and experience to small and rural communities.
