Growing out of a strong rural touring tradition with a side of performance venue and visual arts the Cultural Exchange has pioneered and explored the margins of Saskatchewan’s art ecology.
Its menu has included the Saskatchewan Fiddlers Championships, The Emma Lake Fiddle Camp and the Saskatchewan Fiddlers Association, the Festival Committee – Marketing and Funding program and the Club. Along the way it cooked up CommonWeal Community Plays, which morphed into CommonWeal.
Today it is the Cultural Exchange taking art programs to Saskatchewan communities across the province from Ilse la Crosse to Oxbow and all the stops in between. It has co produced a children’s book, co-produced a video, and produced numerous fiddle music CD’s.
It owns and operates a venue commonly known a the Exchange in the heart of Regina’s warehouse district and indeed is one of the foundational members of the districts entertainment scene.
