To celebrate 40 years of delivering art programs for all ages in all disciplines and in all areas of Saskatchewan, we’re hosting a Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange Anniversary Party! It’s free and for all ages.

We’ve got a clown, face painting, all-day crafts, cake, and more, in addition to artists workshops running throughout the day.

Pre-registration for any of the workshops is free and will guarantee your spot. Drop-in participation will depend on availability and may require a nominal fee. The workshops and are designed for all ages.

– Beading w/ Joely BigEagle-Keequahtooway (Registration)

– Multi-Media Art w/ Rodger Ross (Registration)
“Rodger W. Ross is an indigenous multi-media producer and traditional oral storyteller who has worked in media for over 35 years. He’ll be presenting a workshop exploring storytelling through multi-media. The workshop will consist of using multi-media tools to bring stories to life. Participants will have the opportunity to hear indigenous stories told in the oral tradition, as well as gain hands-on experience with story creation using traditional film-making techniques.”

12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

– Food Art w/ Brittany Reid (Registration)
“Food isn’t purely sustenance for your body. Food is connection. Food is celebration. This interactive workshop will heighten your creativity in the kitchen, exploring food’s power not just through eating but through the vibrant energy it embodies. This session is designed to bring awareness to flavours and textures. This is open to all skill levels. Please wear clothing you don’t mind working with food in”

– Writing w/ Bernadette Wagner (Registration)
Bernadette’s a writer, editor and community-based education. She’ll holding a short, creative workshop that will move your words and ideas onto the page using a variety of tips and tricks, heling you to develop and sustain your creative practice over the long term. Working in non-fiction, video, and more, Bernadette brings a wealth of experience with her.

2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

– Acoustic Music w/ Erik Melhsen (Registration)
“Countless musicians start in the same place: a guitar and a blank page. Touring artist Erik Melhsen of Del Suelo will take you through the basics of songwriting in this workshops. This includes basic theory and songwriting mechanics. Participants will break into small groups and write their own songs with Melhsen’s guidance. This is open to all skill levels. Please bring your stringed instruments.”

– Hip-Hop w/ Brad Bellegarde (Registration)
Rap is the language; hip-hop is the culture. Discover the unique connection that hip-hop has with the rest of the music world. Artist Bellegarde A.K.A. InfoRed talks about where it started, how he uses it to teach about First Nations culture, and how to learn to write a rap.
