PSYBORUM

About PSYBORUM

Psy-bor-um is a combination of the words psyche, cybernetic and sanctum, which meanings altogether translate to; the human mind through use of computers is a sacred place. Psyborum is the prairie’s only industrial metal project, and is based in Regina Saskatchewan Canada. The debut album Simulate-Salvation pulls no punches with it’s melding of driving guitars and blasting industrial beats. Psyborum is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Nate “Hohrd” Cradock.

As one of the few synth players in Regina, Hohrd is a veteran of the province’s thriving metal scene, having played with world-renowned Into Eternity, the talented Memorial, circus grindcore funsters Cupcake, and conceptual black metal outfits Curse of Enki and Wold.

With a keen interest in electronics and industrial music, Hohrd began toying around with the idea of a harsh industrial metal project. Unsatisfied with his early attempts he continued his search in silence as he joined other bands to satisfy his need to be on stage.

In the late fall of 2008, after viewing an industrial show in Edmonton Alberta, featuring Imperative Reaction, S.I.T.D. and Aesthetic Perfection, Hohrd quit the local grind band Cupcake, and decided to get more serious with his project Psyborum. Hohrd began writing/constructing songs with intentions of playing them live in a grim and mechanical performance.

Electronic and rhythmic influences for Psyborum draw from industrial, aggrotech, and Terror EBM acts like Psyclon Nine, Alien Vampires and Suicide Commando, while embracing sampled tremolo guitars and harsh, high shrieked vocal style of black and death metal bands such as Behemoth, Arch Enemy and Dimmu Borgir. Hohrd uses unconventional sound effects and robotic pulses in this unique solo project. Imagine a dark orchestra of machinery playing the soundtrack to our unavoidable future…

Into Eternity

About Into Eternity

One of the most acclaimed bands in metal and undoubtedly one of its hardest-working, INTO ETERNITY borrows from all aspects of heavy music to form the perfect blend of technicality, memorable songwriting, traditional heavy metal and the sheer savagery of metal’s extreme genres.

Founded in Regina, Saskatchewan by guitarist Tim Roth in the late ’90s, INTO ETERNITY seamlessly melds the seemingly disparate worlds of extreme metal, hooky hard rock and challenging progressive music. Metal fans around the globe have hailed the technical prowess displayed on such critically acclaimed albums as Dead or Dreaming, Buried In Oblivion and The Scattering of Ashes, as well as the virtuosity displayed during their tours with the likes of Megadeth, Dream Theater, Lamb of God, Opeth, Symphony X and Iced Earth.

A New Face for the Cultural Exchange Van

Every year, the Cultural Exchange sends out a group of artists to communities throughout Saskatchewan for the Workshop Tour. For decades, the troupe has travelled to every corner of the province, bringing students workshops in dance, writing, music, theatre, and more.

All this travelling is done in the Cultural Exchange Van. Before the troupe takes off this year, it’ll be getting a facelift thanks to 2014 Troupe member Josh Groff. We’ll keep you up to date on the van’s progress.

The Cultural Exchange Supports Creative Kids

The Cultural Exchange is please to support Creative Kids. The Regina, SK-based charitable giving organization helps upwards of 200 youth achieve their creative dreams. This fall is just starting, and there are hundreds more children and youth wishing to participate in artistic and cultural activities this year.

Like Creative Kids on Facebook to see the exciting fundraising events planned this fall and consider donating to the organization to help reach even more families experiencing financial challenges that prevent participation in a variety of arts and creativity activities. If you know a family facing challenges in this area with a child eager to experience the arts, let them know the next Creative Kids application deadline is Friday, September 19.
