Job Posting: Outreach Coordinator

The Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange is looking to hire an Outreach Coordinator for a one-year position on a maternity-leave contract.

Preference will be given to Regina residents, but applications from other residents outside of Regina will be seriously considered.

The Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange Outreach Program collaborates with Saskatchewan’s rural communities to bring arts programming where it is otherwise unavailable. The program looks to partner with communities, artists, and organizations across Saskatchewan in an effort to bring arts to all corners of our province.

We develop art programs to engage youth and adults with community organizations and schools, working in the visual arts, theatre, music, dance, film, and writing.

Our philosophy is that every person in Saskatchewan should have access to arts programming no matter their age, gender, cultural background, or location.

The Outreach Coordinator works to develop programming in the various arts sectors and find community partners that are interested in increasing the access to the arts in their community.

Working with the provincial Sport, Culture, and Recreation districts, communities, organizations, festivals, and artists, this position strives to ensure quality and affordable programming.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop arts outreach programs, ranging from half-day workshops to year-long residencies, in consultation with community partners.
• Hire artists and facilitators as necessary and administer their contracts.
• Maintain and stay within the yearly operating budget as set by the organization.
• Work with artists, facilitators, and partner organizations to ensure adequate staff support, space, and materials for workshops are in place.
• Work with artists and facilitators to secure program materials and art supplies.
• Provide ongoing verbal reports to the Executive Director and detailed written reports every quarter.
• Identify and resolve any issues in program delivery.
• Work with the Marketing and Administrative Assistant to maintain Outreach website and news postings.
• Assist community partners with marketing and promotion of programs.
• Enhance and maintain existing relationships with partner organizations and artists.
• Build and develop new relationships with partners and artists.
• Write contracts and administer partnership agreements.
• Research relevant funding opportunities (including grants, sponsorships, etc.) and lead funding applications for municipal, provincial, and federal funding.

Program Evaluation
• Provide written reports at the conclusion of projects for final report purposes.
• Administer surveys to communities, artists, and participants.
• Collect workshop data (i.e. attendance, participant feedback, demographic information, etc.).

Details of Position
• 27.5 hours/week
• $20-$23 per hour, depending on experience
• Group benefits available after three-month probation period

Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or a Masters focusing on visual arts, theatre, music, dance, film, or creative writing or equivalent experience
• Experience working with a non-profit is an asset
• Occasional evening/weekend work
• Valid driver’s license
• One to three years experience in a program management role and/or supervisory experience an asset
• Excellent relationship-building and communications skills, both in person and in writing
• Able to work with a wide variety of people
• Strong administration and computer skills, including word processing and Excel
• Proven ability to work both as part of a team and independently
• Dependable, self-motivating, well-organized, adaptable, and resourceful
• Personal connections with the Saskatchewan arts community, including organizations and individual artists
• Passion and vision for the role of the arts in growth and healing in Saskatchewan
• Experience with grant writing for non-profits and/or artist collectives for municipal, provincial, federal, and private sector funding
• The Outreach Coordinator will have a commitment to their surrounding arts community and be able to create healthy partnerships with organizations across the various arts sectors including visual arts, theatre, music, dance, film, and writing.
