Congrats to the 2017 Western Canadian Music Awards Winners

Here at the Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange, we know we live not only in a province but in an area of Canada that’s rich with musical talent. BreakOut West and the Western Canadian Music Awards celebrate this every year and 2017 saw some great talent taking home some honours.

There’s a lot of great artists who won who we’ve seen come through the Exchange in years past. Dan Mangan took home Rock Artist of the Year and Corb Lund was named Roots Solo Artist of the Year. We’ve also been pleased to have Instrumental Artist of the Year Five Alarm Funk and Roots Duo/Group of the Year 100 Mile House in our space in the past. (And hopefully in the future, too!)

Of course, musicians from our home province hold a special place in our hearts. Ponteix has been a fixture around Saskatchewan over the past year, and anyone who’s seen them will know it’s no surprise they won Francophone Artist of the Year.

We also have two acts who will be performing in our Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange Anniversary Series: Andino Suns, who’ll be performing here October 14, won World Artist of the Year and Andy Shauf, who’s in the Exchange on November 18, won Pop Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Recording of the Year.
